Devotional transcript:
We all know what it’s like to wake, feeling like we could have slept several hours longer. And we’re all tempted to prioritize everything but Jesus first thing. Our phones distract us, our to-do lists overwhelm our brains, and the day can feel like it’s pressing in on us the moment our feet hit the floor. We need hearts that long for Christ, that hunger for his word and we need the joyful confidence that his word feeds us and supports us.
Psalm 143:8-10
“Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,
for in you I trust.
Make me know the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul.
Deliver me from my enemies, O Lord!
I have fled to you for refuge.
Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God!
Let your good Spirit lead me
on level ground!”
Lord, grow our hunger for you. Give us the desire to open your word, on the hard days and sustain our desire when we’re in fruitful seasons. Fill our hearts with your word so that we remember your steadfast love, and know the deliverance that only comes from you. Give us hearts that love the instruction you give, and lead us by your good Spirit.
